Fremman Capital has acquired a majority stake in Italian workplace safety and compliance provider Proteko from Finint Investments and management, backing the group's continued expansion through acquisitions and investment in its technology and services.
The transaction, announced on 1 October 2026, leaves founders Francesco Scelsi and Antonio Mendo as significant shareholders, with both continuing to lead the business. Financial terms, including the acquisition price and size of the stake, were not disclosed.
Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Vicenza, Proteko provides fire safety, machinery compliance, workplace safety consulting, training and occupational health services. The company serves more than 9,000 customers across multiple industries, supported by approximately 200 employees and its proprietary Pro_Safety digital platform.
Proteko has completed and integrated ten acquisitions since 2019, expanding its presence across Northern and Central Italy. Its acquisition strategy has included businesses specialising in fire protection, industrial safety and environmental services, broadening the group's technical capabilities and regional coverage.
Fremman Capital, founded in 2020, is a pan-European mid-market investment firm managing €4.2 billion in assets. It operates from six European offices and focuses on supporting established businesses through operational development and expansion.
The acquisition gives Fremman a majority interest in an established Italian compliance-services platform with a history of acquisitions. Proteko's recurring regulatory services, proprietary technology and existing customer base provide a foundation for further expansion. Fremman plans to invest in personnel, technology and operational capabilities while supporting additional acquisitions alongside Proteko's founders and management.
